Growing your business with email marketing does not need to be complicated. Email marketing is best used for educating, selling, and entertaining. With those purposes in mind, use these 5 best practices to engage potential customers.

1. Start with a killer subject line

People will open your email based on your subject line and return address. Use a professional email account that matches your domain so it’s legitimate. Spend time crafting an irresistible subject line. If the reader is not stopped in their tracks by the subject line, they won’t open your email.

2. Tell them why you’re emailing

Everyone is busy, so be direct! Every email should have a clear purpose such as teaching a how-to, launching a sale, introducing a new product, or sending reviews. 3. Embrace templates

You’re working on a successful business and want to maximize your time. Use templates to make more time for other important things. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel! Customize the templates to look like your other marketing materials by using the same colors and fonts. Always incorporate your business logo for branded polish.

4. Speak their language

Show that you know your audience and your potential customers by using their language. Write how they would talk, and use words that they would use. This will help your customers feel known and connected to your brand.

5. Make it easy to opt-out

You want to make sure customers have an easy time opting in and out of your email subscriber list. Most reputable email marketing tools have this built into their templates. Stay positive and keep the communication flowing even if customers unsubscribe. An opt-out is better than your messages being marked as spam!
