Lesson 5: Help customers find you

undefined (21)

Whether your business is product- or service-based, urban or rural, established or new, a well-designed, easy-to-find Contact Us page is a must for every website. The Contact Us page helps customers find key information about your business.

Your Contact Us page can help you get new customers

Making your contact information easily accessible will help you convert website visitors to customers. When planning your contact page, you’ll want to include the following:

  • Phone number
  • Hours of operation
  • Physical address, directions, and/or a map
  • Email address that matches your domain
  • Contact form

PRO TIP:

Your contact information shouldn’t be limited to your Contact Us page. Choose the most important way for customers to get in touch, and put it on every page of your website. Most importantly, add it prominently to your homepage.

Depending on your business, you may want to add contact categories, as well. Let’s say you have a business selling stylish shoes through your online store. You might include a P.O. box address for product returns, an email for billing issues, and a phone number for customer support.

Activity: Pull together the info for your Contact Us page

Go back to your Content Creation worksheet, and fill out the “Contact Us” section. Make sure you have all the key information gathered and that it is up-to-date. Once you’ve completed filling it in, complete the following discussion question and move on to the next lesson.

Have you ever tried to find important information on a website and it wasn’t there? What was that experience like? How can you apply what you learned from this experience to improve your own site?
